  2. SMEs

  3. Data analysis and reporting

  4. Research and surveys

1. Homeowners

For homeowners, we focus on making their homes more sustainable. The aim is to reduce energy costs through more efficient use of energy.

An example of this approach can be found under "Projects" under:

  • Research into energy saving in homes (Part I), and

  • Research into energy saving in homes (Part II).

Neighbourhood research

In the Voorhof district in Delft there is a group of about 170 similar homes from 1965. These uniform, modern homes at the time provide an excellent opportunity to assess the effectiveness of energy-saving measures for this type of housing. By comparing the energy efficiency of these homes, the impact of energy efficiency improvements, which some of the residents have already implemented, has been quantified. This knowledge can serve as inspiration and motivation for homeowners to stimulate similar improvements in the other homes.

Step-by-step plan

Part II is a step-by-step plan with a cost-benefit analysis for each step of the sustainability process of a characteristic house from 1965. In its original state, we assume a house with a high energy consumption value of 129 kWh/m2 to a significantly better performing home with an energy consumption value of only 35 kWh/m2 (Paris Proof). The difference is an energy saving of 94 kWh/m2, which leads to a significantly lower energy bill (-73%).

In chapter 8 you can read more about what EG Delft could do for you or your home. Prior to any plan, it is wise to first determine the current consumption of the home in order to determine the gap between your home now and Paris Proof. This step is free of charge at EG Delft.

2. SMEs

For SMEs[1], EG Delft is committed to supporting the company in achieving better energy efficiency, reducing operational costs and contributing to a positive environmental impact. We understand that every customer is unique, which is why we offer personalized advice tailored to the specific needs of your business.

Energy advice and support

Energy advice for making your business premises and/or business operations more sustainable.

This energy advice is about possible energy- and CO2-saving measures in your business premises and business operations. The energy advice covers all aspects of the building and its business operations. The investments required for this are also part of the advice.

Support in the implementation of the energy-saving and sustainability measures in the report.

This includes the following support activities:

1.     Requesting and assessing one or more quotations;

2.     Applying for grants or funding opportunities;

3.     Drawing up and issuing assignments.

Examples of sustainability measures for the business premises are:

  • Replace old lighting with LED lighting,

  • Install insulation or HR++ glass,

  • Installing solar panels,

  • Purchase of energy-efficient appliances.

Examples of measures in business operations:

  • Purchase of electric vans,

  • Energy-efficient kitchen appliances,

  • Energy-efficient ICT equipment.

What does the Energy Advice say?

  • A detailed description and analysis of the energy consumption of the company building and its operations in m³ of natural gas (equivalent) and kWh of the past year;

  • A description of the annual energy consumption of the company building and of its operations. The consumption has been converted into CO2 emissions. Any appliance that uses more than 5% of the annual amount of energy is specified;

  • A description of the possible energy saving and sustainability measures of:

    • The company building

    • Operations

    • Any appliance to which more than 5% of the annual energy consumption of the previous year is attributable;

  • A description of each possible measure of the potential energy savings and reduction of CO2 emissions of that measure;

  • One sustainability measure per appliance to which more than 5% of the annual energy consumption can be attributed, or a substantiation of why a sustainability measure is not recommended for this;

  •  The cost of implementing the measure and the expected payback period of the measure.

Reimbursement of costs

You will not be reimbursed for the costs of advice and support from an energy advisor. You will also not be reimbursed for the purchase costs and installation costs of, for example, LED lighting or solar panels. However, you may be able to make use of other subsidies for this, such as:

  • Investment subsidy for renewable energy and energy saving (ISDE),

  • Energy Investment Drawdown (EIA)

  • Here you will find a more extensive overview of subsidies.

3. Data analysis in reporting

EG Delft has extensive experience in processing different types of data into conclusions and reports.

4. Research and surveys

EG Delft has experience in conducting surveys. This includes drawing up a questionnaire, setting up the survey, processing the answers into a result and clearly reporting on this.
